ceramics: calm, stylish and timeless
Ceramic pots create a luxurious, tranquil look. They're perfect for a modern, Scandinavian, or minimalist interior. Ceramic often feels heavier and more substantial—ideal for creating a striking corner.
- atmosphere: clean, quiet, chic
- plus: sturdy, looks luxurious
- Please note: can be heavy and may not have a drainage hole
baskets: warm, natural and soft
A basket instantly warms up your interior. It feels less rigid than ceramic and creates a natural, homey look. Baskets are perfect for adding softness to a corner or quickly making pots feel more inviting.
- atmosphere: warm, natural, cozy
- plus: light, easy to move, soft appearance
- Note: Protect the basket with an inner pot or waterproof liner.

plastic: practical, light and ideal for convenience
Plastic pots are handy if you move frequently, have children/pets, or are simply looking for a practical solution. They're lightweight and can also look sleek these days, especially in neutral colors.
- atmosphere: sleek, modern, functional
- plus: lightweight, often affordable, easy to clean
- Please note: it can look “cheap” more quickly if the color/gloss is not calm.
which material suits your style?
- calm & modern: ceramic in sand, white or stone color
- warm & natural: basket + 1 ceramic pot as focus
- practical & flexible: plastic in matte neutral shades
practical tip: an inner pot makes everything easier
Whichever outdoor pot you choose, using a nursery pot/indoor pot is the most practical. You can easily lift the plant out for watering, and you prevent wet spots on your floor or furniture.
my favorite "rest formula"
- 2 pots in the same material (e.g. ceramic)
- 1 accent in a different material (e.g. a basket)
This way you get repetition (rest) and a subtle variation (atmosphere).
